DBAA: Food Permit Search

Our next stop on the Alaska page of the State Agency Databases Across the Fifty States Project is:

Food Permit Search – Look for current food permits by type of permit, community, name and other criteria. Search results include Permit Number, Permit Name, Owner, Mailing Address, Expiration Date and Type Code.

The use of the “type code” in the database allows for some interesting explorations, including seeing how many churches or bars in a given community offer a food service.

In addition to online viewing of results, you can have the results e-mailed to you or exported to an Excel spreadsheet file.

This database is strictly for seeing who has a valid food permit in the State of Alaska. It tells nothing about the safety of food being sold at the etablishment. That’s something we’ll look into next week.
