DBAA: Alaska Seafood Recipes

Today’s Alaska agency database from the Alaska page of State Agency Databases Across the Fifty States is:

  • Alaska Seafood Recipes – Searchable set of recipes utilizing salmon, halibut, crab and other Alaskan seafood. Maybe searched by type of dish (appetizer, salad, entree, etc), Seafood type, and consumer/food service.

Each recipe comes with ingredients and directions as shown below. Nutritional information is provided as well.

Alaska Surimi Seafood with Dipping Sauces

Prep Time: 20 min

Serves: 4


12 to 16 oz. Alaska Surimi Seafood (Imitation Crab)

Americana Sauce
1/2 cup catsup
1 Tablespoon creamy horseradish
1 teaspoon each packed brown sugar and minced onion
1/2 teaspoon fresh lemon juice

Southwest Sauce
1/2 cup low-fat mayonnaise
1/3 cup low-fat sour cream or plain yogurt
1 Tablespoon capers
1 Tablespoon fresh lime juice
1 jalapeño pepper, seeded and minced
1/2 teaspoon each cayenne pepper, cumin, dried dill weed, and oregano

Spicy Avocado Sauce
1 avocado, seeded and mashed
1/4 cup buttermilk
1 Tablespoon minced chives
1 teaspoon lime juice
1/4 teaspoon wasabi paste, or to taste
Salt, to taste

Asian Sauce
1/3 cup soy sauce
2 Tablespoons water
1 Tablespoon each sugar, rice vinegar, and sesame oil
1/2 teaspoon minced garlic
2 green onions, sliced

Directions: Blend sauce ingredients; cover until serving.  Arrange Alaska Surimi Seafood on serving platter; serve with sauce choice(s):
