Obama 1 Patriotism 1

Our founding document, the Declaration of Independence has these words:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.

All men (human beings). Unalienable Rights. Endowed by the Creator. This can be rendered as, certain rights are universal and cannot be canceled by any state because they are granted by God. Although America hasn’t always lived up to our founding charter, we’ve tried and for the most part made good progress towards this original vision. But we stumbled badly in the past eight years. We decided that rights weren’t for everybody. We exchanged rights endowed by our creator for privileges granted by the State. We let the words of the Declaration become empty, without meaning.

That changed today with EXECUTIVE ORDER — ENSURING LAWFUL INTERROGATIONS from President Obama’s office. We once again officially embraced equal rights for all and acknowledged that no government has the right to do anything they want to people without due process.

Thank you Mr. President. Thank you for joining our Founders in defense of unalienable rights for all, even for our enemies. Mr. Jefferson would be proud. I can’t think of anything more patriotic that you could have done today than to reaffirm our basic values as you did.
