Abortion Rates Worldwide

Last week I talked about the number of abortions worldwide in 2003. Today I’d like to post my spreadsheet that I compiled using the Guttmacher data. Every country with an * next to it means that the abortion data was considered to be significantly incomplete. The table is sorted in descending abortion rate order:

Worldwide 13,482,500 15 Median

As you can see, the median number of abortions per 1000 women  in reporting countries was 15.  We’re at 21.

Please ponder the chart above. Because starting next week, I’d like to try and open a dialog on how the experience of other countries might help us reduce the number of abortions here at home.
