42 + 8 + Rain = Great Day

I turned the mythic (For HHGG fans) 42 today. A friend asked me out hiking and I spent eight miles hiking through mixed rain and spots of sun up Juneau’s Perseverance Trail. I’m usually a fair weather hiker, but today was surprisingly fun and beautiful. I’m very thankful that my friend talked me into it and given my family history, extremely grateful that I’m my early 40s and still able to hike eight miles without difficulty!

So, turning 42 in the rain with an eight mile hiking trail made for a great experience!

  1. So let me get this straight. Your aging 41 year old body just turned yet ANOTHER year older….you then drag your butt on an 8 mile hike….IN THE RAIN? And after all that you say that it was a “great experience”????

Sounds like you’re coping with old age quite well!

  2. I have a friend, 68, has battled cancer twice, and walks 7 miles a day. Keep it up.

  3. I couldn’t keep up 7 miles a day, but thanks for your encouragement. Sounds like your friend has incredible toughnessness.
