This is just one of many images available from the Alaska State Library’s Place File through the Alaska Digital Archive. It has historical pictures from many parts of Alaska.
This particular image is Beach settlement of the Sum Dum [Sumdum] Chief and Bald Eagle Mine at Sanford Cove, Endicott Arm Alaska.
Check it out, pass the word.

Think I’m on to something? Or crazy? Comment here or there!

My library produces a number of really interesting and nice historical resources. Among these resources are a number of photograph collections that have been input into the Alaska Digital Archive. The electronic versions of these collections are now being put into OCLC WorldCat and our catalog, and I’d like to start highlighting these treasures.
So, here’s [...]

An Iraq funding bill that yanks reconstruction aid if benchmarks aren’t being met.
I was going to vent for awhile on why I’m so utterly disgusted with the Democrats surrender to the President and what I think we should be doing instead, but I find that David Sirota and Rabbi Michael Lerner have already done a [...]

Proving that not all comments on old posts are automatically spam, Kelly Curtis left me this May 2007 comment on an August 2006 post celebrating AK Radio:
Hey there!
I agree, I enjoy AK as well, and nice they are podcasting.
Have you listened to Alaska Podshow? It’s at http://www.alaskapodshow.com that I also enjoy, an authentic podcast [...]
