One of the more unusual uses of YouTube I’ve seen lately came to me in this Catholic News Service Story about Cardinal Justin Rigali of Philadelphia. Cardinal Rigali is using YouTube for reflections for the Sunday Gospels of Lent. Here is the video for the Fifth Sunday of Lent, where a woman caught in adultery was brought before Jesus:
From a visual point of view, it’s not very interesting and may reinforce church stereotypes. As content, I find it a very solid reflection with a hopeful message. I hope you will watch it and the Cardinals other reflections.
I should also point out that this this Gospel is just one of several places where God Himself refuses to impose a death penalty that scripture says He set up.
But my main point in this blog posting is that if the Catholic Church as bureaucratic as it is has figured out YouTube is a place to be, shouldn’t your public library already be there?
