Alaskan Librarian stays active, use WORM

Hi All, and especially to Walt and Norma who responded to my post questioning the continued existence of Alaskan Librarian, the blog. After taking their input and thinking it over, I’m keeping Alaskan Librarian an active blog. Why? For several reasons:

  • Like Norma says, people might be picking up on links but not visiting the blog.
  • It’s anti-DOPA insurance!
  • I’ve only been in the stand-alone blog business for six months, way too early to say, “Gee it didn’t work.”
  • I can customize this site in ways that I can’t with either LISNews or MySpace.
  • It’s ad free.
  • I can use a WORM solution to spread my content to better-read venues.

What is WORM? Write Once, Read Many. Alaskan Librarian will be the fount for all “non-reactive” posts. That is, posts that aren’t written in reaction to someone in my writing community (i.e. MySpace or LISNews).

Everything here will be cross-posted to MySpace, where I’ve got over 3000 blog reads over the past year. Library/info resource items will be cross-posted to my LISNews journal, which will cease to carry political or religious postings unless I’m reacting to someone else.

So, I’ll give this solo blog another six months to a year and we’ll see what happens then. Thanks again for letting me know I’m not really alone. The web is social after all.
